In pictures: In the rubble of Lebanon

Israel’s assault on what it says are Hizbullah-linked targets in Lebanon, which escalated from September 23rd, has been called the most intense aerial campaign in contemporary warfare, apart from Gaza. The full civilian toll is already impossible to assess because of how dangerous it is to go to some of the areas that have been repeatedly targeted, particularly in southern Lebanon.
At least 2,000 people have been killed by Israeli attacks since September 16th, according to Lebanon’s health ministry, and the death toll continues to rise. More than one-fifth of Lebanon’s population has been displaced.
These photos are of things that were spotted in the rubble over the past week in sites that The Irish Times did manage to visit.
